A new decision issued by the Cabinet has introduced unified pricing for electric vehicle charging services in the UAE.
According to the new Decision No. (81) of 2024, electric vehicle charging service providers in the country must charge no less than 1.20 AED per kilowatt-hour plus value-added tax (VAT) for “fast” charging services, and no less than 0.70 AED plus VAT per kilowatt-hour for “slow” charging services.
The decision will take effect starting next September. Under the new decision, the relevant federal authorities will collect the fees specified using methods determined by the Ministry of Finance. The local authorities concerned will collect the fees according to the mechanism in place in each emirate. This step is part of the government’s efforts to regulate and unify the electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
